Curio.
Privacy policy
Curio is an offline personal collection journal. Your cabinet stays on your device unless you choose to export it, share artwork, or send information in an email. There are no accounts, advertising, analytics, or cloud sync in the app.
1. Who this policy covers
This policy explains how Curio (also listed as Curio: Rate & Rank Collections, Android package dev.novanest.curio) accesses, uses, stores, and handles information. In this policy, the term “we” refers to the Curio developer. For privacy questions or requests, contact aniketindulkar6055@gmail.com.
2. Information stored on your device
Curio stores the collections and entries you create, including names, photos, ratings, rating dimensions and weights, notes, dates or location text you enter, and collection appearance choices. It also stores preferences such as your theme, your last export date, and local identifiers used to organize entries. Location information is only text you enter; Curio does not access GPS or track your location.
This information is used to display your cabinet, calculate scores and rankings, compare entries, create artwork, and restore your saved collections. It is stored in the app's private storage on your device. The developer cannot access your cabinet through the app. Curio does not upload it to a server or automatically sync it to another device. Automatic Android app backup is disabled, and the cabinet directory is excluded from iCloud backup on iOS.
3. Photos, camera, and file access
When you choose to add a photo, Curio opens your device's photo picker or camera. The selected or captured image is resized and copied into the app's private storage for that entry. Curio does not scan your photo library or upload your photos. You can use collections and ratings without adding photos.
Saving artwork to Photos uses your device's gallery service. On older Android versions, storage permission may be required to save the image. Exporting or importing a backup uses the system file picker and the file or destination you choose. Any permission prompts are handled by your operating system, and available permissions can be managed in device settings. Curio does not access contacts, microphone recordings, or precise device location.
5. Feedback and support email
Send feedback opens a draft in your email app addressed to aniketindulkar6055@gmail.com. The draft includes the message you enter and Curio's app version. Curio does not send the email automatically or attach your cabinet. You review and send the email yourself.
If you send an email, the developer receives your email address, message, and any information or attachments you choose to include. We use this information to respond to you, troubleshoot issues, and improve Curio. Our email provider, Gmail, processes email under Google's privacy policy. Feedback is not sold or used for advertising. We may disclose support information when required by applicable law.
6. Advertising, analytics, and third parties
Curio contains no advertising SDK, analytics SDK, tracking SDK, or developer-operated crash reporting service. It does not collect advertising identifiers, usage telemetry, or device identifiers for tracking. The developer does not sell your information or send your cabinet to third parties.
Your operating system, app store, email app, and any service you deliberately choose for saving or sharing may process information independently under their own privacy policies.
7. Retention and deletion
Your active cabinet stays in local app storage until you change or delete it, replace it with an import, clear the app's storage, or uninstall the app. Deleting an entry or collection removes it from the active cabinet. Curio keeps a previous local snapshot for recovery, and unused photo files may remain in private app storage after deletion or import. To remove all of Curio's local cabinet files, clear app storage in Android settings or uninstall the app. On iOS, delete the app rather than offloading it.
Backups, saved artwork, shared copies, and original photos outside Curio are not removed when you delete entries or uninstall the app. Delete those copies separately from the relevant gallery, file provider, recipient, or service.
Support emails are retained only as long as reasonably needed to answer your request, resolve the issue, and meet applicable legal obligations. You can request deletion of support emails by contacting aniketindulkar6055@gmail.com. We will act on the request subject to any legal retention requirements. We cannot remotely delete your local cabinet or copies held by recipients you choose.
8. Security and your choices
Curio relies on the operating system's private app storage and your device's security controls. It does not add separate encryption or password protection to cabinet files or exported .curio backups. Protect your device, keep backups in a location you trust, and avoid sharing backups that contain information you want to keep private. No storage or transfer method can guarantee absolute security.
You can edit or delete entries, export your cabinet, choose whether to attach photos, manage available permissions, and choose whether to share or email any information. For questions or requests about information you sent directly to the developer, use the contact email below.
9. This privacy policy website
The policy page contains no advertising, analytics scripts, contact forms, or cookies added by the Curio developer. When this page is hosted on GitHub Pages, GitHub logs visitors' IP addresses for security purposes. GitHub's processing is described in its privacy statement at GitHub Privacy Statement. Google's privacy policy for Gmail is available at Google Privacy Policy. Reading the policy inside Curio uses the bundled offline document and does not contact the website.
10. Policy updates and contact
We may update this policy when Curio's features or privacy practices change. The current policy will be published on this page and included with app updates, with a revised date. Any new data handling will be described before it is introduced.
For privacy questions, support, or requests concerning information sent to the developer, email aniketindulkar6055@gmail.com.
