Privacy Policy — Learnt

Last updated: 29 August 2026

Learnt is a daily learning journal for Android, published by Aniket Indulkar ("we", "the developer"). This policy explains what happens to your data. The short version: your logs stay on your phone, and we never receive them.

What we collect

Nothing. Learnt has no account, no sign-in, and no server. We do not collect, transmit, or store any personal data about you. There is no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, no crash reporting service, and no tracking of any kind in the app.

Where your data lives

Everything you write — your learning logs, headlines, notes, subjects, time spent, review history, quiz results, and any summaries generated on your device — is stored in a database file inside Learnt's private storage on your phone. No other app can read it, and it is never uploaded to us.

Android backup

Learnt takes part in Android's built-in backup and device-transfer system, so a new phone can restore your logs. If you have device backup enabled in Android settings, a copy of Learnt's data may be stored in your own Google account backup, governed by Google's Privacy Policy. We have no access to that backup. You can turn device backup off in your Android system settings at any time.

Internet access

Learnt requests the INTERNET permission for exactly one purpose: if you turn on the optional on-device AI features, the app downloads the language model file once from a public GitHub release. GitHub can see your IP address and the request, as it would for any file download, under GitHub's Privacy Statement. Your learning logs are never sent anywhere as part of this. All summarising, spelling correction, flashcard generation, and quiz generation run on your phone, offline.

Aside from that one download, Learnt works entirely offline.

Notifications

Learnt asks for notification permission to send you local reminders and summary notifications. These are created on your device. Nothing is sent through a server, and no push service is used. Learnt also uses the boot-completed permission solely to re-schedule those local reminders after your phone restarts.

Sharing

We do not sell, share, or disclose your data, because we never have it. If you use Android's share sheet to send a log to another app, that content goes wherever you choose to send it, and that app's own policy applies from that point on.

Deleting your data

Delete individual logs inside the app, or uninstall Learnt to remove all of its data from your device. If device backup is on, also clear the app's backup data in your Google account settings. No request to us is needed — we hold nothing to delete.

Children

Learnt is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new "last updated" date.
